How to survive 10 days of scouring new design talent, choosing looks that are guaranteed to make their customers swoon while remaining photo-ready throughout? For these retailers, it’s all in the bag (or three).

Julie Gilhart, vice president and fashion director, Barneys New York

BAG: “Two. A woven black Bottega Veneta sack and a white Valextra tote.”

SURVIVAL KIT: “Notebook, Spirulina ginseng energy balls, By Terry Baume de Rose lip balm, Fleur

d’ Oranger 27 fragrance

by Le Labo with my name on the bottle.”

CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU: “I leave all the miscellaneous stuff out. As you go through the day, you accumulate everything from WWDs, show programs and gift things. I go out in the morning and don’t go home until late, so I end up carrying a lot.”

Sarah Easley, co-owner, Kirna Zabête

BAG: “I’m deciding between six bags, including a leopard unstructured tote by Pierre Hardy and a chocolate leather Lanvin satchel.”

SURVIVAL KIT: “Camera, cell phone and my son’s new school schedule.”

CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU: “My laptop. It doesn’t fit.”

Ikram Goldman, owner, Ikram, Chicago

BAG: “One of my all-time favorite handbags in the world: my Chrome Hearts black leather bowling bag with fleur-de-lis details. I’ve been carrying it for three years.”

SURVIVAL KIT: “Laptop, paper work, Power Bars, beeswax lip balm.”

CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU: “I would love to live without my makeup.”

Stefani Greenfield, co-owner, Scoop

BAG: “Chloé’s Edith satchel in cognac.”

SURVIVAL KIT: “Sunglasses from Oliver Peoples, MAC lip gloss in ‘Oh Baby,’ Scoop patent leather ballet flats and lots of snacks, including almonds, cashews and spearmint gum. One of my main essentials is snacks, now that I’m hungry every 10 minutes [since she is pregnant].”

CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU: “I’m not leaving anything out.”

Meital Grantz, owner, Talulah G., Las Vegas

SURVIVAL KIT: “Notebook, Tiffany pen, BlackBerry, Tom Ford for Estée Lauder bronzer, skullcaps from Missoni and Chrome Hearts and my 22-month-old son Jacob’s pacifier and harmonica to remind me of him back in Las Vegas.”

CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU: “I am leaving his bottle caps and alphabet trains at home.”
