Anyone who ever suspected Kylie Minogue of digitally enhancing her la-la-las should have been at Café Flore on Thursday night when the pint-sized pop star climbed onto a tiny stage and trilled cabaret standards like an old-fashioned chanteuse.

Minogue came to the party, thrown by Chloé to celebrate the house’s 50th anniversary, holding hands with French heartthrob Olivier Martinez, but that didn’t mean she didn’t have plenty of love left over for her audience. She shimmied and shook her way through “Fever” and “Peel Me a Grape” like a latter day Peggy Lee, while fashionable types including photographers Michael Thompson, Peter Lindbergh and Ellen von Unwerth, as well as Carine Roitfeld and Linda Wells, all snapped along.

Even Phoebe Philo, whose personal taste can run toward the tomboyish, worked an overtly feminine look for the night, turning up at the party with foot-long blonde hair extensions. “I’m going to just keep going until I can come out on the runway naked underneath my hair,” she said. “Maybe I’ll even ride a white horse like Bianca Jagger.” Once Kylie moved on and the dance music was cranked up — and it was cranked up loud enough to shake the windows — Philo channeled Jagger’s fabled party ethic, dancing her way through the jam-packed café well into the night.
