On Sunday night at a ceremony in Paris, Marilyn Gauthier — head of the Marilyn modeling agency — received the Knights of Arts and Letters. The French Minister of Culture typically bestows the honor on writers like Susan Sontag and Paul Auster, but Gauthier’s contribution to French culture is impressive in its own right: Years ago, she famously signed Ines de la Fressange to her Chanel contract. The Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute’s upcoming retrospective of the work of Adrian, the legendary Hollywood designer, has been awaiting a curator. Jane Trapnell Marino, the wife of the decorator Peter Marino, has accepted the post.
