PLAY BOOK: Apparently, Carolina Herrera has a following at the least likely of publications, Playboy. While the designer was expounding upon her love of books at the Assouline boutique opening Thursday night at Bergdorf Goodman, three Playboy staffers charged the startled designer shouting, “Vous êtes fantastique! Créateur! Formidable!” Keeping her legendary composure, Herrera graciously introduced herself but later asked, “Where did they say they were from?”

Also on hand were Ron Frasch, Prosper and Martine Assouline, Serena Boardman, Marjorie Gubelmann, Eliza Reed Bolen, Bettina Zilkha, Tim and Helen Schifter, Sally Albemarle, Josh Patner, Eva Lorenzotti, Amanda Brooks and personalities with Assouline book deals such as Daniel Boulud, Rena Sindi, Marion Maneker and Pamela Hanson, among others.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Could the Yankee socialites be giving London’s It girls a run for their money? Sources in London say Paris Hilton and her partner in partying Ivanka Trump are investing $1.5 million each in The Collection, a club and restaurant in South Kensington. Hugh Grant was reportedly offered a stake in the cavernous, candlelit venue as well, but turned it down. All parties involved have declined comment.

HANDS ANH: Artist Anh Duong has taken up a new medium: sculpture. The painter recently completed her first clay piece of — who else? — herself. But portraiture is still her mainstay. She’s currently putting the finishing touches on a portrait of Phillips’ Simon de Pury and plans to immortalize Domenico Dolce’s visage next.
