Unless Angelenos know there’s going to be a red carpet at an event, it’s almost impossible to get them to abandon their jeans and leather jackets for a night out, but two influential retailers made sure guests got the dress code memo on Thursday. Decades’ Cameron Silver tapped pal Rachel Griffiths to host a vintage runway show at MOCA, and Roseark’s Kathy Azarmi Rose told guests to show up to jeweler Katie Brunini’s exhibit-slash-birthday party in Twenties opera attire. Marisa Tomei hit up both events in a Yves Saint Laurent-designed Christian Dior dress. “He only designed for Dior for a couple of years, so this dress is extra special,” she said. Shiva Rose had been saving her vintage beaded flapper frock “for the right occasion” and Liz Goldwyn unearthed a pair of tie-on sleeves that she found at a flea market. “I’m in vintage heaven tonight,” she said.
“It really feels like we’re in a Twenties salon,” said Erin Wasson. “I could get used to this.”
