Gigi Hadid has joined the ranks of Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls as a top fashion model who made the crossover from high-fashion to Angel status: Hadid has landed a spot in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. In an Instagram video Thursday, the lingerie brand revealed that — despite her 7.5 million Instagram following — Hadid was made to audition for the show just like everyone else.
“What are you doing on November 9th and 10th?” Ed Razek, the chief marketing officer at Victoria’s Secret, asks her, before saying, “Why don’t you come join us?” In her own post, the 20-year-old model wrote, “Couldn’t keep back my tears!!!! Anyone that grew up with me knows that getting this show has been a dream of mine forever! THANK YOU@victoriassecret & @ed_razek! One of the happiest moments of my life.”
After decamping to London last year, the lingerie giant’s annual show returns to New York to film in early November. Rihanna, Selena Gomez and The Weeknd are confirmed to perform, and other new Angels joining Yolanda Foster’s daughter on the runway include Elsa Hosk, Jac Jagaciak, Jasmine Tookes, Kate Grigorieva, Lais Ribeiro, Martha Hunt, Romee Strijd, Sara Sampaio, Stella Maxwell, Taylor Hill and Victoria’s Secret PINK model Rachel Hilbert.
The 20th-anniversary show will air on CBS on Dec. 8.
