The Alessandro Michele-Florence Welch lovefest continues. The Gucci creative director will be outfitting the singer-songwriter for her upcoming Florence + The Machine world tour. The “How Beautiful” tour kicks off Friday in Bogotá, Colombia, with the band traipsing across South America (Brazil, Argentina then Chile), then Europe (Italy, Spain and Portugal) and rounding out the tour in the U.S. — from Miami to New York City — finally ending July 3 in Belgium. Grimes, Of Monsters and Men, The Lumineers, Cold War Kids and Elle King join the band for select U.S. dates.
Welch’s relationship with the house has been long-established. Frida Giannini designed Welch’s costumes for the band’s 2012 “Ceremonials” tour and also when Welch performed at the LACMA Art + Film gala that year. But it’s Welch’s friendship with Michele that really has solidified the house-celebrity symbiosis. Michele has called Welch a muse and in February, Welch was named the Gucci Timepieces and Jewelry Ambassador.
