Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd team up.

Detroit rap-rocker Kid Rock may seem like an unlikely fashion trendsetter, but he was one of the first to sport his now signature white ribbed tank and fedora — currently wardrobe staples for the young and hip. Also, last year he purchased struggling clothing company Made in Detroit, which is known for its logo T-shirts, jackets and hats, a move that could one day land him on the growing list of musicians-turned-designers.

On the music front, he put out one of this summer’s hit singles, “All Summer Long,”  contributing to an impressive 24 million-plus albums sold since his 1990 debut “Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast.” The third single off of his October-released double-platinum album “Rock ’n’ Roll Jesus” samples music from Warren Zevon’s “Werewolves of London” and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama,” and has been topping the charts since its spring release.

Rock will perform at Fashion Rocks with special guest Lynyrd Skynyrd, with whom he’s been co-headlining the Rock ’n’ Rebels tour since August.
