STORE SEARCH: Making his first visit to Milan in 12 years, Marc Jacobs was mobbed by photographers and fans as he arrived at a cocktail party to fete Louis Vuitton’s refurbished boutique on Via Montenapoleone. Two hulking bodyguards trailed him, bringing to mind the security detail that always surrounded John Galliano, whom Jacobs is widely expected to replace as couturier at Christian Dior. The designer embraced Vuitton honcho Yves Carcelle, who is to step down at the end of 2012 and then head up the brand’s art foundation, and then toured the rambling store. He combed every nook and cranny, marveling that runway looks he paraded in March were already hanging on the racks.

Actress Chiara Mastroianni said she plays a small part in the forthcoming “Americano,” which also stars Salma Hayek. “It’s kind of a road movie, from America to France, via Tijuana – with a dead corpse,” she recounted, describing a storyline both comedic and sentimental. Stefano Accorsi said he’s shooting an eight-part television series about the Camorra crime organization in Naples, in which he plays a feisty — and fearless — public prosecutor.

Model-turned-actress Elisa Sednaoui is also turning filmmaker. She said she was headed to London to begin editing her first documentary, about the life of Egyptians in the countryside. “It’s important to show how people live,” said Sednaoui, who grew up in Egypt.

Later, Delfina Delettrez, Anna Dello Russo, Marta Marzotto and Bianca Brandolini weaved through a Vuitton/Jacobs exhibition at Milan’s La Triennale design museum — and grooved to the strains of a live performance by The Noisettes.

“It’s been incredible, overwhelming, and above any expectations,” Margherita Missoni enthused about the Italian brand’s collaboration with Target in America. But she still keeps Milan in her heart. “The city’s coming back to life and I’m very proud of it,” she said.
