Melissa McCarthy, Oscar-nominated comedic actress — and recent fashion designer — will receive the “comedic genius award” at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday.
The ceremony, hosted by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart, will also honor Will Smith with the generation award.
McCarthy, who most recently starred in “The Boss,” famously broke out in “Bridesmaids” in 2011. She’s no stranger to MTV Movie Awards, having previously been honored for “Bridesmaids” with “best comedic performance” and “best WTF moment.”
She stars in the remake of “Ghostbusters,” out July 15.
In addition to film, she’s most recently been dabbling in fashion design, a longtime passion. In 2014 she told WWD, “I have experience dressing me as a 6, a 12 and more. And when you go above a size 12, you don’t lose your love of fashion.”
Her designs have gotten play on the red carpet: in January, she wore a gown from her collection to the 2016 Golden Globes. Of her approach to design, she previously said, “I think women want to be able to dress for their mood. My pieces mix and match, because some days we want to be rock ’n’ roll and some days we want to be more polished. I love that I’ll be able to chat with other women about fashion and see how they’re wearing my clothes.”
