Within three months of stepping into the modeling world, Basia has already strolled the haute couture runways for Valentino and Stéphane Rolland in Paris. Now, she’s tackling New York Fashion Week. With looks that will take her far and brains that will take her further, keep an eye out for this impressive beauty.
Height: 5’11 ½”
Hair: Lt. Brown
Home country: Poland
Birth sign: Taurus
Does being a Taurus play a factor in your personality?
“Of course it does. A Taurus is usually very ambitious and I’m the type of person that if I get an opportunity, I’ll continue with it until the end.”
Favorite body part?
“I like my eyes a lot, but it’s not the most important thing. The most fundamental and useful part of my body is my brain! I wouldn’t be able to do the slightest activity without it, and all my achievements I owe to it.”
“The last haute couture collection of Stéphane Rolland was amazing. On the one hand, it was very classically beautiful and on the other there were a lot of details. It’s amazing how somebody could design something that’s strict and yet very rich and detailed.”
What are your favorite wardrobe pieces?
“Shoes. I really love training shoes! Converse is my favorite. They’re comfortable. I can wear them where I want: to school, for running, they’re suitable everywhere. They’re practical and I love them.”
Do you have a favorite style of Converse?
“It’s the Kurt Cobain Converse. It was all black with white wording from the Kurt Cobain journals. It was really amazing, especially because I like Kurt Cobain so much.”
What’s on your iPod?
“It may be strange, but I’m listening to very hard music: Jack White, Linkin Park, Kings of the Stoned Age. But I also love the Beatles. I can’t live without them. If I’m a bit mad, or something like that, I just listen to them and feel better.”
What’s your must-have beauty product?
“I don’t wear makeup. I like makeup for shows or photo shoots, but in normal life, I don’t wear makeup. I don’t have time for it and I don’t think I need it. I don’t need longer lashes or stronger eyebrows. It’s not practical.”
Do you have any hobbies?
“Horseback riding. I love horses and have been riding for five years. The other thing is music festivals. The last one I was at was the Guinness World Records for largest number of guitar players. We had 6,000 people playing one song at one time. It was so amazing. I love concerts. Maybe it’s because I’ve been playing the guitar for nine years. I’ve played trumpet for a year also.”
Is there a model that inspires you?
“There are just models which I really like. For example, Ajak Deng. I really love her attitude toward the world and she’s always cheerful. And she’s powerful. She knows how the world is, but it doesn’t bother her. She’s just happy as she is and I love that in her.”
