Anyone who knows Tiffany Dubin could predict that sooner or later, the vintage aficionado would strike out to create something of her own. But the inspiration for her lipstick pen (available exclusively at Tiffany’s Lair, her in-store boutique at Henri Bendel) didn’t strike her in the usual places — trolling through flea market racks of Twenties-era clothing or surfing eBay for the Sixties-era wallpaper she collects.

“I bought a Powerpuff Girl pen for my daughter,” she says, “and decided that big girls need them, too.” Other whimsical items Dubin plans to introduce for big girls are an accompanying compact that holds a notepad, not powder, and additional notepads printed with a reproduction of the vintage wallpaper pattern she has hanging in her own house.

“There are certain things that every handbag needs,” she says, adding that in the Twenties every handbag had a built-in nook for lipstick, money and cigarettes. “What I’m trying to do is take these vintage ideas and make them modern.”
