The reason for Linda Wells’ laid-back, lantern-lit fete last Wednesday night? None at all, other than to welcome summer outside of rainy Manhattan.

“And it’s a great excuse for a new haircut,” she laughed.

Stars swept onto the patio of L.A.’s Buffalo Club in their summery best for the Allure dinner.

“I’m still in French Riviera mode,” sighed Cannes attendee Debra Messing, smoothing her white pants.

But Messing wasn’t the only one who chose to wear highly stainable white for the occasion.

“Careful where you tip that glass, it could be fatal,” warned a white-clad Monet Mazur to Ashley Scott, who was dressed in cream and holding a precariously poised glass of red wine.

Amber Valletta, who was dressed in fuchsia, didn’t have to worry about spills. Nor did Selma Blair, who strode in wearing a bright red vintage Ungaro.

“I always love doing what’s not expected of me,” she declared.

When the velvet rope came down and young actors like Alessandro Nivola, Matt Davis and Chris Klein arrived, they found themselves pinned against the mahogany bar.

“Man,” said Davis. “There are a lot of chicks here.””
