Asics America Corp. has poached a sales executive from one of its prime competitors.
The sport performance brand has hired Under Armour’s Sean Mannion as vice president of sales to lead and oversee all commerce functions in the U.S. and join its executive leadership team.
“Sean is an incredible talent with extensive experience and expertise across our industry,” said Gene McCarthy, Asics America president and chief executive officer. “This is a pivotal time for our brand and we are confident in Sean’s strategic approach and vision to drive our business forward in the U.S.”
Mannion served most recently as general manager and senior director of sales for Under Armour, managing footwear, apparel and accessories in the sporting goods, mall and family retail channels. He has also worked at Nike and Saucony during his career.
“After nearly two decades in the footwear industry, I am thrilled to join a brand with such a strong history and heritage,” said Mannion. “I have always admired Asics’ ability to provide incredible performance products to athletes across a wide variety of sports. As a lifelong athlete, I am humbled to join the team and help drive the next phase of profitable growth for Asics America.”
Mannion will be based in Asics’ new Creation Studio in Boston.
