Hanes Hosiery is making its New York Fashion Week runway debut with help from Bibhu Mohapatra.
Mohapatra will use Hanes Hosiery product for his spring 2016 show, which will take place on Sept. 16 at The Gallery at Skylight Clarkson Square.
“My spring collection is inspired by the Bauhaus movement and because of the bold and confident spirit of that woman, legs became an important part of the look,” said Mohapatra. “The Hanes Hosiery helps complete that look.”
The designer will use existing items from the Hanes Hosiery assortment including its ultrasheer thigh highs, toeless styles and its Silk Reflection hosiery that features a sheer control top.
In addition to providing the legwear, Hanes is also sponsoring Mohapatra’s show.
Mohapatra, who plans on creating his own collection of hosiery for the brand, is in expansion mode. Last year he introduced a fur collection through a licensing deal with BC International and the designer told WWD he’s considering other categories including jewelry, footwear and men’s wear.
“This is only the beginning of a long journey,” said Mohapatra.
