Family-owned Groupe Chantelle on Wednesday said it has acquired the brand from DB Apparel, a subsidiary of Sun Capital Partners Inc.
Thomass is to remain artistic director of the namesake brand she established in 1975, Groupe Chantelle confirmed, stating, “Marrying the creativity of Chantal Thomass in the lingerie domain with Chantelle’s savoir faire in corsetry, which has been passed down across five generations, can only lead to the highest-quality collections where the glamour of Chantal Thomass’ universe will thrive.”
A source close to the deal said DB Apparel chose to part ways with the luxury label as it wishes to focus on the mass market.
DB’s stable includes the Dim, Playtex, Lovable and Wonderbra brands.
Groupe Chantelle said Chantal Thomass would be given access to the group’s production, logistical and distribution network. The label is already distributed in around 56 points of sale through its multibrand innerwear chain Orcanta.
Groupe Chantelle also owns the Chantelle, Passionata and Darjeeling lingerie labels.
