Tennis ace and 18-time Grand Slam champion Chris Evert is serving up two lines for fall through her partnership with Tail.
The lines — Imperial Purple and Garnet Red under the label Chrissie by Tail — are in the tennis and activewear categories and feature her signature details, such as mesh on a dress; pleated and ruffled skirts, and cap sleeves. Whether tops or bottoms, the apparel is primarily comprised of 88 percent polyester with 12 percent spandex. The spandex provides stretch, with recovery from high performance. The items also have sun protection. Most items from the fall 2016 lines available now are rated UPF 30, although some are classified as having UPF 50 protection. One of the options is also an item called the Grecelda Skegging, a cross between a meshlike ultra-short skirt combined with a cropped legging.
The Imperial Purple collection, available now, is the first release from the fall 2016 line, while the Garnet Red Collection is slated for September.
Evert said, “I have always been interested in fashion and looking good on the court and I am excited about the release of my new fall line for Chrissie by Tail.” She described the Imperial Purple line as “contemporary and sporty, yet elegant and classy, for a fashion-forward look that also offers the athletic performance capabilities women desire.”
Jerry Edwards, president and chief executive officer of Tail Activewear, said, “In collaboration with Chrissie, we have selected a spectacular Imperial Purple color and created a unique print that will really stand out on the court.”
Tail Activewear manufactures the golf, tennis and ath-leisure apparel for women.
Evert, who also holds 157 singles titles and six U.S. Open wins, partnered with Tail in 2015. The initial collection, about 100 styles, was divided into three group by color. Evert, 62, said she designed her line for herself, meaning it would appeal to women of all ages compared with competing products that are geared for the 18-year-old body.
