A new swimwear venue called Dive Swim Week will be making a splash in Miami this summer.
Described as an all-encompassing style and entertainment series that highlights new and emerging swimwear design talent, the initiative will be accompanied by a lineup of swimwear industry events, concerts and social soirees.
Scheduled July 17 to 22 at Mana Wynwood’s production village, the new format will include eight hand-selected, up-and-coming designers whose swimwear and beachwear collections will be showcased as part of a Dive Runway show. Off the runway, the Dive umbrella of events will include a Swim City environment replete with sand, pools and aquatic-inspired lounges that will feature food, cocktails and concerts.
There will also be a Dive Boutique on-site trade fair.
Tiffany Norman, creator and producer of the Dive format, said she wants to help budding new swimwear designer to “thrive.”
“Dive will provide a turnkey platform to get them the exposure, experience and mentorship they deserve and need…all while having a little Miami fun, of course,” said Norman, whose production portfolio includes the Made fashion venue during New York Fashion Week.
In other developments, the Dive program has partnered with Miami’s Bakehouse Art Complex to highlight emerging artists. The organization will invite eight to 10 of its resident artists to recreate their studios inside the Dive lounge area, where they will engage guests with installations and the live creation of new works. Dive and Bakehouse will draw in additional new talent via an open call for artists across the Miami area to feature large-scale works, site-specific installations, murals and videos in the outdoor spaces of Swim City.
“Business, pleasure — we aim to have it all under one roof through a Dive collaborative,” added Norman. “The focus is fashion, but we’re celebrating all forms of art, culture and community and look forward to making this a successful and annual event.”
Designer selections for the Dive show will be announced in June, followed by artists’ selections in collaboration with Bakehouse, as well as the complete lineup for Swim City entertainment and Dive Boutique exhibitors.
The Dive show kicks off festivities before Miami Swim Week, which runs July 19 to 22 and includes the Swim Show at the Miami Beach Convention Center and the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim Show.
