Intimates and loungewear brand Aerie wants young women to love who they are.
The brand has named Iskra Lawrence, an #AerieReal girl, its new #AerieReal Role Model. The British-born Lawrence, a National Eating Disorder Association advocate, has appeared in unretouched Aerie Real intimates, loungewear and swim campaigns since 2014. Lawrence is an advocate for young women to love their real selves, including acceptance of their bodies.
Aerie global brand president Jennifer Foyle said that the company also is a supporter of NEDA. “AerieReal is about embracing all body types, any flaws and empowering young girls today,” Foyle said.
In her new role for Aerie, Lawrence will appear at the upcoming pop-up truck that’s touring U.S. colleges between Feb. 28 and March 20, in free-standing stores and at events nationwide. She will also share her fitness and lifestyle tips to customers at the events.
“Aerie shares my values in uplifting women, building their confidence and embracing the unique qualities that make us all beautiful,” Lawrence said.
At the same time that Aerie began #AerieReal in 2014, the company stopped the use of Photoshop on its visuals in the intimates and swim space.
Others who have participated in unretouched campaigns for the Aerie brand include Emma Roberts, Gray Malin, Barbie Ferreira, Elia Almeida and Ally Walsh.
Aerie is a brand under the American Eagle Outfitters umbrella.
