PARIS — Les Atelières, an association of ex-Lejaby lingerie workers who set up their own plant in late 2012, was forced into bankruptcy, according to press reports on Monday.
A hearing is set at the commercial court of Lyon, France, on Tuesday to rule on the fate of the cooperative. The president and founder Muriel Pernin is expected to make a statement following the court’s decision.
Lisa-Marie Cath, a spokeswoman for Les Atelières, did not confirm the bankruptcy reports.
The cooperative had raised 657,150 euros, or $748,100 at current exchange, in citizens’ donations in March 2014, as well as support from an industry keen to support French manufacturing.
