NEW YORK — Minnie Rose, the luxury knitwear label, is dipping into swimwear. The company has collaborated with Kandice Pelletier Swimwear to create The Slim Suit, a hybrid design that combines the elements of a cover-up and swimsuit together.

According to Lisa Shaller Goldberg, founder of Minnie Rose, the suit is designed to appeal to women of all shapes. The inner suit provides support and coverage, while the outer, silky layer drapes over the body. The silky overlay, which is waterproof, is attached to the suit and provides a slimming, stylish appearance.

“We are truly excited to work with Minnie Rose on this groundbreaking design,” said Kandice Pelletier. “We’ve combined the style influences women have come to love about Minnie Rose with our experience in making high-quality swimwear with an emphasis on fit.”

The Slim Suit is being offered for summer in a variety of colors: black, cherry bomb, chocolate kiss, deep purple and white, and is sized from XS to XXL. It will wholesale for around $120. The line will be shown at Minnie Rose’s showroom at 264 West 40th Street, and is being introduced Sunday through Tuesday at Intermezzo here.

Minnie Rose anticipates the line, which is expected to hit stores between April 15 and May 15, will generate roughly $300,000 in first-year sales.

Pelletier, who earned the title of Miss New York in 2005, is a former Radio City Rockette and a two-time contestant on “The Amazing Race.” She designs swimwear for pageant contestants competing in the Miss America and Miss Universe contests, as well as a bridal swimwear collection. Pelletier’s suits emphasize construction and fit and have high-cut legs and custom-built briefs. All of her fabrics are imported from Spain.
