PARIS — Determined to be fashionably early, trade show giant Eurovet said it will move the dates of its 2011 Mode City intimates and Interfilière textile trade fairs to July from September.

Next year’s event is scheduled July 9 to 11 at the Porte de Versailles. This year’s edition is to run Sept. 4 to 6 in the same location.
“We will open the ball,” said Eurovet chief executive officer Marie-Laure Bellon-Homps. “It’s vital to be there at the start of the season ahead of other salons in the sector, at the key moment for buying fabrics and establishing trends.”
Bellon-Homps described the move as a collective decision “made by the industry” after four years spent hashing out ideal dates corresponding with calendars of countries based in the northern hemisphere.
“The majority of international visitors wanted these dates,” she said, adding that a number of brands that dropped out of the show because of its late positioning are set to return. She declined to provide details. Eurovet in 2008 moved the event from Lyon to Paris.
Eurovet also will introduce a separate complementary Cruise by Mode City trade fair scheduled to run concurrently with the Who’s Next and Prêt à Porter trade shows from Sept. 3 to 5, 2011, which will cater to fashion-oriented swimwear and innerwear brands targeting clothing stores.
