Terez, the New York-based ath-leisure brand, will unveil its first immersive and interactive pop-up shop at 158 Mercer Street in New York. The 2,200-square-foot shop will be open Tuesday through Dec. 2.
Modeled after New York, the two-level store takes guests through a reimagined city setting, complete with a Terez subway station. The in-store experience is enhanced by a changing programming calendar. Programming partners include Dana’s Bakery, Petite ‘N Pretty, Stretch*d, Sundays, Florabrook, Olfactory NYC, MisterKrisp and Donna D’Cruz. For example, they will offer manicures from Sundays, inspired by Terez’s favorite prints; 1:1 stretching sessions from Stretch-d, and bouquet making with Florabrook.
Asked if they’re planning to open a freestanding store in the near future, Amanda Schabes Zeligman, cofounder of Terez, said, “This is our first ‘in real life’ experience, and a great way to test to see how our customers respond. While there’s no immediate plans, it’s definitely on our radar.”
As for whether they’re planning exclusives for the store, Zeligman said, “For the first time, we are offering our best-selling prints in updated styles. There will be early access to our metallic foil dusting collection as well as our Ski Trip capsule. Our full sequined crewneck and jogger set are available exclusively in-store with very limited stock.”
Discussing why they wanted to open a pop-up, Zara Terez Tisch, cofounder added, “Opening a pop-up has been something so important to us from the very beginning. We’ve built an incredible community and wanted a place where everyone can go to connect and experience the brand coming to life.”
Each dressing room is themed based on best-selling leggings — one is the brand’s first galaxy print, another is their best-selling floral print and the third is based on their classic mix-tape leggings.
Terez will offer a Get One, Give One program in which the brand will donate one Terez item for every transaction for the duration of the pop-up to WIN, Women in Need, the largest provider of shelter and supportive housing for homeless women and children in New York, in tandem with the Give One, Get One program. Upon entering the store one finds a Terez Tree, a massive installation at the heart of the guest experience, inviting guests to write an encouraging affirmation to add to the tree and receive one in return that was contributed by an earlier guest — an emblem of community connection and care.
The store will offer a sweepstakes where a winner will receive Leggings for Life — a $500 gift card per year for 60 years. Terez will be running Our Favorites for Our Favorites giveaway throughout the duration of the pop-up, with prizes including Rumble Boxing classes, The Arrivals’ rainier leather moto jacket, Krewe sunglasses, cult-favorite sneakers, earrings and handbags, two spots in a Haven’s Kitchen cooking class and pairs of concert and Broadway tickets.
Terez: Explore. Shop. Create will be open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will be closed on Thanksgiving. Black Friday’s hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Terez, which was co-founded 10 years ago, has over 800 wholesale accounts. It also has an ongoing partnership with SoulCycle.
