The Underfashion Club and The New School’s Parsons School of Design are teaming up.
The not-for-profit organization, which is made up of the intimate apparel industry, will host “Modern Allure” on May 17 at The Gallery at the Prince George Ballroom. The event will include an intimate apparel design contest and a presentation featuring looks from Natori, Rago, Hanky Panky, Delta Galil, Betsey Johnson, Montelle, Wacoal and Lise Charmel.
This is the first time the not-for-profit intimate apparel organization will host a design contest outside of its annual Femmy Gala. For the contest, five students from Parsons will showcase garments they designed on mannequins. The winners, who will be selected by attendees based on votes, will receive a cash prize.
“This is a fun opportunity for intimate apparel members and student designers to enjoy an event that supports the future of the industry while networking and having a fun time,” said Clelia Parisi, co-chair at The Underfashion Club, who added that the organization distributed more than $200,000 in scholarships, internships and grants in 2015.
