Under Armour has signed on to become the title sponsor of the TransRockies Run, a trail running stage race in Colorado.
Called “Summer Camp for Big Kids,” TransRockies Run is either a three- or six-day stage race that traverses a 120-mile route through the continental divide in the Colorado Rockies between Buena Vista and Beaver Creek. The race is capped at 350 participants and sells out every year.
“Under Armour is proud to sponsor one of the trail running community’s most anticipated adventure races of the summer,” said Topher Gaylord, senior vice president and group general manager, of run, train and outdoor for Under Armour. “We look forward to uniting UA trail athletes and urban run crews with the tight-knit community of runners that TransRockies Run draws. There will be no shortage of camaraderie, scenery or mileage on this weeklong adventure in the mountains.”
The event includes camping in tents, with luggage service, mobile shower truck, catered meals and massages and is more of a running vacation than a timed competitive event — although it is timed. It will be held this year from Aug. 13 to 18.
TransRockies Run president Aaron McConnell said: “As a global leader in technical performance athletic apparel, Under Armour is a perfect fit for TransRockies Run. It’s the ultimate proving ground for gear that offers optimal performance and comfort even in the harshest conditions. This partnership will allow TransRockies and Under Armour to provide even greater support to the trail runners who take on the challenge of crossing the Rockies.”
