Lenzing: The Tencel specialist has teamed with Spanish denim company Jeanologia (which offers training in laser design, an up-and-coming profession in denim) for an eco-friendly collection of laser-finished chambray. The “washes” span from vintage fades to cross-stitch to geometric kimono patterns.
Candiani: Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 72 warp, Candiani has revived the unique ring character weave, which gives denim an authentic salt-and-pepper look. Think a pair of good-old 501s.
Collect/Japan Blue: Also looking back was Collect/Japan Blue. The Japanese selvage specialist for the first time used cotton from the Ivory Coast, where buds come with long fibers, similar to the original species, resulting in extra-soft and comfortable fabrics. In 2015, Ivory Coast’s domestic production reached 450,000 tons, up 11 percent year-over-year.
