HONG KONG — Balbina Wong is retiring from her role as chief executive officer and vice chairman of ImagineX Group and Walton Brown and will become honorary vice chairman of the Lane Crawford Joyce Group as of Feb. 1, the retail group said Wednesday.
Thomson Cheng, president of Walton Brown, and Alice Wong, president of ImagineX, will lead those businesses respectively, a spokeswoman said.
Wong has held various management positions at Hong Kong-based Lane Crawford Joyce Group over the past 30 years.
“A pioneer of the luxury market in the region, Ms. Wong founded China’s leading retail, brand management and distribution company ImagineX Group in 1992, and was the first to introduce luxury brands such as Salvatore Ferragamo, Gucci, Prada and Cartier to the market. From 1994 to 2003 Ms. Wong also served as the president of iconic luxury department store Lane Crawford,” Jennifer Woo, chairman and chief executive officer of Lane Crawford Joyce Group, said in an announcement.
