Barneys New York is expanding in the City by the Bay.

The retailer on Saturday revealed a major renovation and expansion project that will include a freestanding men’s store scheduled to open in the spring of 2016. The men’s store will be followed by renovations at the women’s store, which will occur throughout 2016 and 2017.

This will all take place as Barneys continues to build a 57,000-square-foot downtown Manhattan flagship on Seventh Avenue and 16th Street. The downtown flagship is slated to open in 2016.

The Barneys San Francisco flagship bowed in 2007. The 60,000-square-foot store on five levels is about a block from Union Square, the city’s premiere shopping district. The building was formerly occupied by Joseph Magnin and FAO Schwarz.

The new Barneys men’s store will include a street-level ground-floor space that will be joined with the women’s store through an expansive lower-level space.

In the redesigned women’s store, shoes and accessories will move from the ground floor to a new destination floor that will be vacated by men’s. The expanded space will allow for a bigger offering of shoes and accessories.

Across categories for men and women, top-selling brands include Saint Laurent, Givenchy and Balenciaga. Also strong for men are Balmain, Lanvin, Dries Van Noten, Thom Browne and Valentino. Strong women’s brand are Alaïa, Céline and The Row.

The women’s store will also have a Fred’s restaurant on the top floor.
