In fashion circles, venture capitalist Christopher Burch is probably best known as the ex-husband of Tory Burch, and one of the driving forces in turning her namesake label into a top lifestyle brand that has garnered much buzz since its 2004 launch. By several accounts, it looks like Burch is planning for a big year. The silver-haired executive recently assembled a team including former Akris U.S. chief Caroline Brown to spearhead a major lifestyle and retail brand, expected to include a range of categories from apparel to home. The company has yet to disclose a name or launch date for the venture, but it appears that’s not all that’s brewing chez Burch. Brown and Burch are also said to be in talks with Olivier Theyskens to launch another retail concept. If it comes to fruition, it would mean a return of a fashion wunderkind to the scene, after critically acclaimed but commercially challenged gigs at Rochas and Nina Ricci.
