Daniele Carlotta has signed a renewable two-year licensing agreement with Italian manufacturer Kabi for the production and distribution of the Sicilian designer’s namesake luxury women’s fashion line.
The first fruit of the collaboration between the two companies was unveiled with the launch of Carlotta’s resort 2017 collection. This includes a range of dresses and separates worked in high-end fabrics, including fluid silk showing a romantic and feminine floral pattern. The lineup wholesales from 120 euros, or $133 at current exchange rate, to 1,500 euros, or $1,664.
“I’m extremely happy of this collaboration with Kabi because I think it’s the ideal partner for developing full collections based on a great attention to details,” said Carlotta, who debuted his label in December 2010 with Spiga 2, the retail project dedicated to emerging designers launched by Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce at that time. “I’ve produced my collection internally for several years and this helped me learning a lot about the entire process, which is something helping me also in my collaboration with Kabi.”
Carlotta — who designed the baby blue chiffon shirtdress worn by Beyoncé in the video of “Forward,” which is part of her groundbreaking “Lemonade” album — currently sells its collections in about 40 stores in the world.
“Our main markets are Russia, the Middle East and Far East,” said Carlotta, who revealed that the United States are in the target of the label. “We have met several powerful North American retailers and they are giving us positive feedbacks on the collection.”
Carlotta will unveil his spring 2017 collection with a presentation during September’s Milan Fashion Week.
