Marcel Ostertag, Sid Neigum, Atsushi Nakashima and Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida were named the winners of the DHL Exported Cycle Two program, sponsored by the logistics provider and IMG.
The designers have won the opportunity to show their fall 2016 and spring 2017 collections on global fashion week stages. As part of the program, DHL Exported will offer business strategy consultancy, public relations and social media support.
“The overwhelmingly positive feedback we received from the DHL Exported Cycle One graduates emphasizes the value and sustainability of the program,” said Arjan Sissing, senior vice president, corporate brand marketing, Deutsche Post DHL Group. “Now four new designers are about to start on a similar journey.”
Finalists were selected by a panel of industry veterans and logistics experts.
“The selection process was extremely difficult this year, with many talented designers from around the world applying for the invaluable opportunity that DHL Exported offers,” said Catherine Bennett, senior vice president and managing director, IMG Fashion Events & Properties. She said the decision came down to those who not only demonstrated design skills, but also had the proper infrastructure to support global expansion.
The winners will receive two fully funded and produced runway shows, and DHL will provide logistics advice and cover international shipping and exporting of hard goods related to delivering the collections to New York, London, Milan or Tokyo for the designers’ runway debuts.
Ostertag will present at New York Fashion Week: The Shows; Neigum will present at London Fashion Week, Nakashima and Marques will show at Milan Fashion Week, and Almeida will show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Tokyo. Shows will take place in February and September 2016.
