The shift to handle its own wholesale business supports the company's new global strategy and is intended to evolve its level of partnership between Fisher and its Canadian accounts.

Eileen Fisher Inc. plans to open a Toronto office that will be devoted to growing the brand presence and supporting the business in Canada. For nearly 20 years, Fisher had partnered with Se Ce Apparel, the exclusive Canadian distributor of high-end fashion brands for women, men and children.

The shift to handle its own wholesale business supports the company’s new global strategy and is intended to evolve its level of partnership between Fisher and its Canadian accounts.

“As we continue on our global journey, our strategy is to create deeper, more direct connections in Canada,” said Mariclare Van Bergen, vice president of wholesale. The strategy is to get closer to its Canadian accounts, understand them better and take them under Fisher’s wing.

Fisher is sold in Holt Renfrew, Ogilvy, Hudson’s Bay and Nordstrom, and is sold in more than 85 specialty stores. Plans to open a showroom in Canada will be revealed in 2016. The company currently has two stores in Vancouver and Calgary and intends to open additional units over the next few years.

Founded 30 years ago, Fisher is sold at more than 60 Eileen Fisher stores in the U.S., Canada and the U.K., as well as department and specialty stores and eileenfisher.com.
