Ernest Alexander is turning its design studio into a retail space.
Called Ernest Alexander: Design Shop, the location at 15 West 28th Street is scheduled to open on Nov. 20. It will be the brand’s second store in Manhattan, joining its flagship in SoHo.
Designer and creative director Ernest Alexander Sabine said the design shop will provide customers with a behind-the-scenes look into the creation of the company’s apparel and accessories. It will include inspiration boards and pieces from Sabine’s childhood. Design details of the space will include a Chesterfield leather sofa, whimsical sailboats, a vintage liquor table and accents of bright-yellow sail paddles.
“I want people to walk into my showroom store and get the full experience of the brand,” said Sabine. “From seeing all we have to offer in accessories and ready-to-wear, customers will also get the opportunity to see where I work and where I get my inspirations.”
The Ernest Alexander: Design Shop will be open by appointment only on Tuesdays through Thursdays and for walk-ins on Friday.
