Fern Mallis is revisiting her fashion show roots.  She has been tapped as executive adviser and consultant to Pier59 Studios. Her first task will be the 20th anniversary celebration taking place at Pier59 on Oct. 26. Mallis will be working directly with founder and chief executive officer Federico Pignatelli della Leonessa, and alongside recently named fashion programming consultant Christina Neault and the rest of the Pier59 Studios team.

Mallis has had a longtime association and friendship with Pignatelli and Pier59 Studios since relocating the 7th on Sixth shows to Pier59 during a transitional season in 1997.

Mallis is the creator and host of “Fashion Icons With Fern Mallis” at the 92nd Street Y, and previously served as the senior vice president of IMG Fashion and executive director of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, where she created 7th on Sixth, which unified the fashion shows in the Bryant Park tents.

Pier59 Studios, a 100,000-square-foot photography and multimedia studio at Chelsea Piers, was founded in 1995 by Pignatelli and his Art and Fashion Group Corp. Among the 29 collections that presented there during New York Fashion Week were Custo Barcelona, Frankie B., Gen Art Fresh Faces in Fashion, Jay Godfrey, Karen Walker, Threeasfour and Whit.
