SHANGHAI — Luxury bridal and fashion house Galia Lahav has opened a new flagship store here at the Bund Finance Center, its first store in China and the first globally to hold the Galia Lahav eveningwear collection along with the brand’s two bridal collections: couture and gala.
The new boutique is the Israeli brand’s fifth flagship location globally and its first location in Asia. The 1,000-square-meter store cost $3 million to fit out and is one of the largest tenancies in the luxury BFC shopping center.
The brand is targeting the large and fast-burgeoning Chinese wedding market which this year is expected to exceed $80 billion.
According to the National Wedding Consumption and Development Summit, at least 13 million new couples have tied the knot annually in China over the last five years. It also found that couples in China are willing to use 31 percent of their savings for their weddings and 88 percent of Chinese brides wear four outfits for the occasion.
