Ian Hylton has resigned as men’s wear designer for Ports, the China-based fashion brand, to join Ms. Min, a women’s ready-to-wear label, as president and chief executive officer. Hylton married Ms. Min’s founder and creative director, Min Liu, in 2010.

Hylton had held the position of men’s designer at Ports since 2006 and is credited with growing the men’s label through the company’s 150-store expansion and “conceptualizing and executing” the 2011 launch of Ports1961, a luxury offshoot of the brand that is made in Italy and shown in Milan. Hylton served as creative director for that line, which is carried in such high-end retailers as Neiman Marcus and Harrods.

The company said his departure is “amicable” and he will remain on the board.

“I have an amazing amount of admiration for Min’s talent and I am extremely excited to put my expertise behind the brand,” said Hylton. “Min definitely has an elegant and very original eye – one that is modern with a distinct flare for the luxurious.”

Ms. Min is sold at Lane Crawford.

The British-born Hylton began his career in Paris with an internship at Ralph Lauren, before joining Club Monaco as visual merchandiser. He has also worked for Holt Renfrew, Flare and Suede magazines.
