Intermix has partnered with the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Fashion Incubator Program to acknowledge New York designers as their New York Fashion Week retail partner.
From Thursday through Sept. 14, Intermix’s creative retail lab at 810 Washington Street (between Gansevoort and Horatio Streets) will pay tribute to fashion’s rising stars as it transforms into a fully immersive gallery showcasing the collection of seven of the CFDA’s Fashion Incubator brands. The goal is to educate Intermix’s customers on the importance of this up-and-coming group of women’s wear, men’s wear, jewelry and accessories designers.
They are Alix; Brother Vellies; Haerfest; Haus Alkire; Ji Oh; K/LLER Collection, and Yestadt Millinery.
“Retail is key to the success of a designer. Through CFDA’s partnership with Intermix, our emerging CFDA (Fashion Incubator) talents have the invaluable opportunity to present their creative vision and sell their designs during New York Fashion Week,” said Steven Kolb, chief executive officer of the CFDA.
The shoppable gallery will be stocked exclusively with a limited run of products, including a $450 K/LLER collection necklace to a $650 Brother Vellies booties to an $880 dress from Ji Oh.
Intermix has carried Yestadt Millinery and Ji Oh already, but in a limited way. The rest of the brands are new to the store.
A centrally located interactive digital station will stream original behind-the-scenes content featuring candid interviews and up-close-and-personal footage of each designer creating in their studios. Additionally, a projector will showcase exclusive video, giving an abstract look at the designers’ process and inspiration behind each collection.
Jyothi Rao, president of Intermix, said, “Intermix and the CFDA have always shared a common commitment towards the development of emerging design talent in America. We are proud to introduce the new class of CFDA Fashion Incubator designers to our customers through our retail platform.” Intermix plans to donate 10 percent of the CFDA (Fashion Incubator) sales proceeds from this week-long program towards the CFDA (Fashion Incubator) program.
