THE LATEST CREW: J. Crew has unveiled its seventh store in London, a 900-square-foot retail space that stocks men’s wear only.
This is the second men’s wear store in London for the American brand, and is housed in the former Allpress Espresso headquarters on Redchurch Street in the East End.
The new outpost shares the ground floor space with the famous Allpress coffee shop and is near to Club Monaco’s men’s store and Aesop. The interiors are similar to other J. Crew stores, with oak shelving as well as display units, although the “Oak Room” located at the back of the store is an exclusive feature. It houses a rotating assortment of men’s specialty items, which includes the label’s signature shirts and jeans.
Apart from the curated selection of men’s designs, such as the popular Ludlow suit as well as footwear and accessories, the store continues to stock a collection of brand collaborations. Selected by J. Crew’s design team, they include made-in-America brands Norse Projects, Billy Kirk and The Hill-Side.
“Whenever we arrive in the U.K., East London is usually our first stop,” said Millard “Mickey” Drexler, chairman and chief executive officer of J. Crew. “Cool people, cool vibe and we know it just keeps getting better. So, we are very excited to have finally arrived in the neighborhood.”
As part of the opening weekend celebrations, the store is collaborating with the grooming company Mr Natty to offer complimentary services for customers. They will also serve grilled cheese sandwiches for shoppers, and offer tokens for a cup of coffee from Allpress or a drink from The Owl and Pussycat pub nearby with every purchase.
