LONDON — Kim Jones will step down as Alfred Dunhill’s creative director this week after two-and-a-half years, the company said Sunday.

Jones became Dunhill’s first creative director in February 2008, and during his tenure built a creative team and structure, and reinvigorated the label’s men’s wear offer with his youthful spin on classic, tailored pieces.
His last full collection was for spring 2011, although a Dunhill spokeswoman confirmed that Jones also worked on the fall 2011 collection, which will show in Paris in January.
Dunhill hired Jones, whose background was in edgy, streetwise sportswear, to increase the fashion quotient. Jones created a younger image for the brand with updated tailoring while stressing the travel aspect of its heritage. Dunhill as a brand has logged double-digit volume increases worldwide over the past four years.
“Kim has made a valuable contribution to the creative development of Alfred Dunhill over the past two-and-a-half years,” said Christopher Colfer, chief executive officer of Alfred Dunhill. “His collections have been both commercial and greatly appreciated, and therefore we are sorry to see him go. But his departure is in line with the original planning and strategy for the brand.”
The spokeswoman said there are no plans to replace Jones, and that his team would remain in place at the brand, which is owned by Compagnie Financière Richemont.
“I would like to thank all at Dunhill, especially my creative team, and I am looking forward to announcing future projects shortly as well as publishing two books,” Jones said.
