“In this persona incarnating a true aristocrat, one finds a spirit where mathematics and literature as well as poetry coexist: Elsa is a sacred sphinge who never ceases to interrogate uswhile offering us new enigmas as answers,” said Lacroix. “Art, theater and cinema… my wish is to reposition Elsa at the center of her maison and on the stage from which she once seduced the world. “

The company said that a number of contemporary artists will continue to celebrate Schiaparelli and provide their interpretation of the designer on a yearly basis, following Lacroix.

In addition to these tributes, Schiaparelli said it plans to develop collections by “the future artistic director” of the brand, who has yet to be named.

As reported, sources in Milan believe Rochas creative director Marco Zanini could be headed to Schiaparelli.

Diego Della Valle, chairman and chief executive officer of Tod’s Group, acquired Schiaparelli in 2006, with plans to relaunch it in mid-2013.
