Max Mara will celebrate the opening of its first flagship in Vienna on April 7 with a cocktail event hosted by Nicola Gerber Maramotti, the brand’s European director of retail development.

Designed by Duccio Grassi Architects, the unit covers 5,400 square feet on two floors and is located in a 19th-century building in Graben, the city’s prestigious shopping street.

Accessories are on display on the ground level, framed by large arches and marked by warm, ash-colored wooden walls and high ceilings. A large curved staircase links the two stories and is also visible from the outside. The collections, including Max Mara, Sportmax, Max Mara Elegante, Weekend Max Mara and ‘S Max Mara are available on the upper floor, where a sequence of rooms depart from a salon. The spaces are decorated with original period stucco work and all the floors were restored following the design of the original parquet.

To mark the opening, Max Mara created a special edition in gold of the Whitney Bag design by Renzo Piano Building Workshop.
