MILAN — Moncler Genius was introduced a year ago and the new chapter of this project will be unveiled on Feb. 20, during Milan Fashion Week.
The location this time is the Magazzini Raccordati on Milan’s Via Ferrante Aporti 9, a storied site linked to the Central Station, marked by a series of warehouses and tunnels that connect different train tracks and platforms. The venue and the surrounding area are part of a project of urban renewal. The Moncler Genius Building will then be open to the public on Feb. 24.
Moncler has revealed the names of participating designers, including the addition of Richard Quinn and Matthew Williams of 1017 Alyx 9SM. The roster also includes Pierpaolo Piccioli, who teamed with Liya Kebede; Sandro Mandrino for Moncler Grenoble; Simone Rocha; Craig Green; Fragment Hiroshi Fujiwara; Palm Angels’ Francesco Ragazzi, and former Celine designer Veronica Leoni, and Sergio Zambon, a former MSGM and Acne Studios head of men’s wear, share the creative helm at Moncler 1952. It is also expanded with its dog clothing Poldo Dog Couture.
“Moncler Genius is an answer to the times, a symposium of creative minds and an inspiring place,” said Moncler chairman and chief executive officer Remo Ruffini, who conceived this business model to take into account the diversity of today’s customers. “Each Genius operates singularly and the sum of the Geniuses interprets the Moncler identity. Different rooms house different visions, all of them shaping the global Moncler message and the Moncler Genius Building contains them all.”
According to the Moncler Genius business model, whose motto is “One house, different voices,” each collection is released singularly through monthly projects, both physical and digital.
“Moncler Genius is a creative hub promoting the energy that comes from a mix of different cultures: it’s a vision beyond borders of season, age and taste, talking to all generations of customers throughout a product rooted in Moncler’s unique heritage and values,” the company said in a statement.
