The 86-year-old is said to have suffered an injury at his property in Lacoste, a village in the south of France, where he hosts a classical music festival every year, and was recently readmitted to a Marseille hospital for high blood pressure.

It is understood the peripatetic designer, who continues to oversee the 800 licensed products to his name and the Maxim’s restaurant brand, should be released soon.

A spokeswoman for Cardin declined all comment, but noted he is in “good health.”
