LONDON – Pringle of Scotland has named Alistair Carr to the post of design director. The British designer, who holds a Master of Art from Central Saint Martins, was a stylist at Balenciaga, who worked on runway collections.
Carr will report to Jean Fang, Pringle’s chief executive, and his first collection at the house will be for spring 2012.
“We are thrilled to have Alistair on board,” said Fang in a statement. “His passion for both cutting-edge and contemporary luxury design is the perfect alliance for Pringle of Scotland, and we look forward to continuing our success as an international luxury brand with an emphasis in knitwear.”
Before Balenciaga, Carr worked at Marni, Cacharel and Chloé. For three seasons, he designed a signature label, which was shown during London Fashion Week.
As reported, Clare Waight Keller, Pringle’s creative director, left earlier this month after six years at the company.
