He joins the company Sunday, just in time for the designer’s bridal presentations in her Fifth Avenue showroom here. Hebre, who most recently was based in Paris as commercial director and chief operating officer for Sonia Rykiel, will be based here and will report to Reem Acra, chief executive officer of R.A. Luxury, parent company of Reem Acra LLC.
Prior to Sonia Rykiel, he headed up the Nina Ricci design house and also held senior management posts at Rochas and Daniel Hechter.
In his role at Reem Acra, Hebre succeeds Josh Gelder, who exited the company in 2007. Victor Lipko of Valko Consulting LLC has served as acting president. Lipko will stay on in a consulting role to oversee a number of projects, including a rollout of an undisclosed number of freestanding stores in the Middle East and Asia toward the end of the year. Lipko, who has consulted with Theory, Tahari, John Hardy and other companies, will continue to do so.
Acra noted the company has seen substantial growth overseas in the past two years, which has helped offset the slowdown in the U.S. Now that domestic business is starting to pick up again, Acra said she aims to maximize her international partners. “Christophe has extensive experience in international markets as well as retail relationships in the U.S.,” she said.
