The lineup will be presented along with her spring bag range with an installation to be held on Sept. 25 at Palazzo Bovara on central Corso Venezia.
“It was kind of natural and spontaneous for me to decide to lunch women’s wear,” said Battaglia, who debuted her line of colorful, eye-catching bags in 2010.
The Sara Battaglia rtw collection will be produced by Mantua-based manufacturer Castor, who signed a three-year agreement with the designer.
“We immediately clicked and everything went smooth,” said Battaglia, who revealed that the line will be positioned in the affordable luxury segment. “Since the beginning I said that I didn’t want the collection to be extremely expensive. There will be some special pieces, but in general I think there is a very good balance between quality and prices.”
According to the designer, the line will be rooted in a very feminine aesthetic and will address women who want to express their personality through clothes.
“It will have a lot in common with the bag line — some details of the bags will appear on the clothes,” Battaglia explained.
For her first spring collection, the designer crafted cotton poplin, silk, leather, lightweight fabrics and more heavy materials in a color palette of white yellow, black, indigo and pastel pink.
“Dresses with a Fifties-inspired attitude will be iconic pieces of the collection — they won’t look retro, I deconstructed and rebuilt them to get a modern appeal,” Battaglia said.
