On Nov.3, the Italian e-tailer will launch two exclusive collaborations for those already seeking special, unconventional gifts.
Yoox teamed with Milan-based brand Marni to unveil a women’s ready-to-wear capsule infused with the label’s quirky touch. The collection will include staples, such as wool coats and jackets, silk shirts, as well as cotton dresses and skirts, all showing Marni’s signature silhouettes and archival patterns.
In addition, the online retailer collaborated with three artists who customized some table games. In particular, illustrator Angelica Hicks decorated a set of cards; graphic artist Antti Kalevi developed the illustrations appearing on a memory game, while photographer Martin Parr took the image, shot in Capri in 2014, appearing on a 500-piece puzzle.
“I adore playing cards because you can play anywhere with anyone. I play canasta with my grandmother, poker with friends and solitaire alone,” said Hicks, who recently relocated to New York from her native London. Hicks is the daughter of designers Allegra and Ashley Hicks. “I wanted to create a deck that stuck to the traditional concept — because at the end of the day you want to actually be able to play your cards right — but make it my own, which led to the idea of interpreting the suits literally. This all started when I was thinking through the suits and I came to clubs. I immediately thought it would be so fun to reinterpret clubs along the lines of nightclubs and started visualizing disco balls.”
Later this month, Yoox will also launch a mother-and-daughter capsule collection developed by Margherita Maccapani Missoni, founder and creative director of the Margherita children’s wear brand. The designer realized a lineup of pajamas for women’s and children ages three to 12 featuring the label’s iconic daisy prints reworked in a variety of patterns in different color combinations.
