NEW YORK — Continuing its restructuring of management functions, the Leslie Fay Cos. has tapped two former Liz Claiborne executives to fill two new posts involved in manufacturing and quality maintenance.
Dana Reed has been named corporate vice president of manufacturing services, a post the firm said consolidates responsibilities from several areas. Reed, formerly director of quality assurance at Claiborne’s Russ Divisions, reports to Donald Ochs, senior vice president of worldwide sourcing and manufacturing.
Keith Farrell has joined Leslie Fay as director of quality assurance at the firm’s distribution center in Laflin, Pa. Farrell, who had the same title at Claiborne’s Dress unit, reports to Reed.
Kathryn Connors, senior vice president of corporate affairs, said Reed will oversee a consolidated pattern department aimed at greater productivity and creating an “environment where the multiple divisions…can assist each other to overcome capacity problems” and increase opportunities to standardize construction and component selection.
Reed brings to the firm years of technical and quality experience, Connors said, “at a time when we need to assure ourselves and our customers that the products we ship meet standards above those of our competition.”
In conjunction with Farrell, Connors said, Reed will direct development of a warehouse quality assurance function. They will also set up a fabric testing laboratory and develop systems to record contractor quality performances. A spokesman said this refers to foreign production as well as U.S.
