NEW YORK — Several people who know a few things about the importance of keeping up appearances will be on hand for Monday night’s American Apparel & Footwear Association’s American Image Awards at the Grand Hyatt here.
The ever-critical fivesome from “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy”; Katrina Campins, Kwame Jackson and Nick Warnock from “The Apprentice,” and Patricia Field are expected at the bash, which will honor Oscar de la Renta with the Designer of the Year award, Kenneth Cole with the Man of the Year award and Burt Tansky, chairman and chief executive officer of the Neiman Marcus Group, with the Retailer of the Year award.
De la Renta will outfit Sharon Stone, this year’s Spirit of a Woman award winner, in a red dress from his spring collection. The designer also will suit up Kelly Ripa, the event’s emcee, in a flared lime green dress.
The cast from “Queer Eye” will pick up this year’s Fashion Maverick Award from Paul Charron, ceo of Liz Claiborne. George Malkemus, president of Manolo Blahnik USA, will present the award to Tansky, and André Leon Talley will do the honors for de la Renta. ?
The event will benefit the American Foundation for AIDS Research and the AAFA’s educational programs.
