NEW YORK — Richard Rubin, a retired textile jobber, died Dec. 4 in University Hospital of Tamarac, Fla., after an undisclosed illness, according to his son, Richard. He was 82.
Rubin founded Edru Textile Corp. here in 1957 and ran the company until 1982, when he handed it over to his son and retired.
Edru has since been sold and is still in business in New York, said Richard Rubin, who is no longer in the industry.
Before founding Edru, Rubin had worked as a materials buyer and fabric inspector in the dress industry.
In addition to his son, Rubin is survived by his wife, Alice.
